Meeting The Makers
Maker Maker reflects the hearts and passions of husband and wife team Rupert & Anita, who between them sew, pot, paint, and play ukulele!
Against the charming backdrop of carefully curated antique furniture, the shop provides a display of high quality, collection of UK made gifts and home furnishings; Cambridge Imprint, St. Eval Candles, Bronte by Moon, to name but a few... for our youngest customers the shop is home to a very large collection of Maileg mice.
We both are very passionate about our own creativity and have a creative workspace which we utilise to enable you to enjoy our specialisms. Rupert is a potter and musician and the shop is home to an impressive wall of stunning ukuleles from Rooster Ukes please do call to make an appointment with him for all things ukulele!
Anita has a creative background in antique interior design but trained as a pattern maker within the bridal industry. She has a collection of high quality textiles and dressmakers patterns which she takes to local specialist shows and when not out and about the collection can be seen by appointment where she can help you find just what you need.
"Our little shop is creative space from where we teach and our hope is to inspire and encourage people to discover their creativity."
In November 2019 we were contacted by a researcher working on behalf of the Visa and The Guardian. He had been searching the length and breath of the UK to find small independent owner run business, offering something different to traditional shops within community. We were one of 3 shops invited to make a film and be part of the 'Where You Shop Matters' - Christmas TV advert for Visa 2019. We hope you enjoy and get and insight into our shop.
Undeniably a quirky mix, unmistakably Maker Maker!
